Australia Day Celebrations (Creswick)
Creswick Woollen Mills is hosting two jam-packed weeks of Australia Day themed celebrations from January 26 – February 10, 2019 at their award-winning Mill in Creswick, Victoria.
Australia Day at the Mill will feature a local produce market, children’s activities, an Aussie themed BBQ, delicious café food, raffles and prizes, along with Creswick’s renowned animal experience with Farmer Cameron. The local produce market on Saturday 26 will focus on fresh food stallholders including Springmount Fine Foods, Meraki Organic Farm, Crisp Preserves and Produce, Harmony Garlic, Wimmera Flour and Mama & Sons. All stalls will offer tastings across the day, and there will also be locally made wines on offer…and a few giveaways!
Other stallholders include local candle maker Mia & Talbot, custom upcycled bags by Leisa Creations, earrings and brooches by Acorn & Squirrel, and paintings by local artist Art Brush, who specialises in watercolours of native fauna and flora. The Creswick café will be dishing up delicious Australia Day themed treats across the fortnight, including pastries, cakes, slices, lamingtons, ST ALi coffee, milkshakes, smoothies and more.
On January 26, there will be a huge Aussie BBQ on offer, featuring fresh locally made sausages. Farmer Cameron, Creswick’s resident animal expert, will be on hand to walk visitors through Creswick’s animal enclosure, allowing guests to get up close and personal with Creswick’s gorgeous alpacas, including feeding them.
For the kids, there’ll be a colouring competition and the opportunity to pat and feed Creswick’s animals. Creswick will also hold history tours across the fortnight, showcasing the journey of fibre - all the way from its source on the alpaca, through to the manufacturing process and how product ends up on the shop shelf.
