What is The Difference Between Lambswool and Merino Wool?

In some cases, you really can’t choose one option as better than the other as both lambswool and merino wool are breathable, renewable and easy to care for.

What is Lambswool?

Lambswool is often used in high-grade textiles, such as blankets, throws and apparel like this high-quality cardigan. This is the wool that is taken from the first shearing of sheep, usually at the age of around seven months. Lambswool can come from any breed of sheep, but the wool must not be any longer than 50mm.

What is Merino Wool?

In contract to lambswool, merino comes from a particular breed of sheep, the quality and usage of which is defined by its microns. It can be used in many products, such as this very popular fine wool blanket.
